How To Get Traffic To Your Blog: Amazon Kindle Store

DiggThisI have found a new way to bring traffic to your blogs and make some extra income while doing it. How many people do you know that uses a Kindle? I know at least 5 people that use one. For those who are not sure what a Kindle is, it is an electronic portable reading device that allows you to read books, newspapers, magazines, and blogs wirelessly. You don’t even have to have a computer.

Did you know that if your blog is listed with Kindle Publishing they can subscribe to your blog through their Kindle? The Amazon Kindle Store will charge Kindle users for each blog they subscribe to. This is where the extra income comes into play. As the blog owner you will receive 30% of each monthly blog subscription your blog has. You can also have more than one blog listed.

It is free for blog owners to join and add their blogs to the service. All that you have to do is to create an account and make sure that you fill out the account info page. Once that is completed enter your blog information by simply clicking “Add A Blog”. Here it will ask you for a description of your blog, the URL for the blogs RSS Feed, your blog tagline, a screenshot of your blog, your blog’s URL, and some keywords that users would associate with your blog for searchable ability. My blog was published quickly but the promise they make is within 72 hours after submitting your blog it will become published.

Since it is a free service for blog owners, you won’t lose anything by adding this to your list of traffic generating ideas.

If you have a Kindle and would like to subscribe to my blog through your Kindle look in the left sidebar for the link.

I learned about Kindle Publishing from Suzanne Wells post over at her new blog Make Money With Your Brain. Click here for her post on Amazon Kindle Publishing.

(Disclosure: I am an affiliate for Amazon Kindle Publishing. I will receive compensation for any subscriptions to my blog as stated in this post. For more info on my disclosure statement click here.)

Start Making Money For Christmas 2010: Volume 4

Search & Win Another way that I make Christmas money is to use a search engine called Swag Bucks. This site is a search engine, powered by Google and Ask, that randomly issues Swag Bucks for searches done by its members. Members can then cash in their Swag Bucks for a prize. They offer a wide array of prize options such as: gift cards (online & offline), band swag, music, Electronics, Video Game Systems, and more. My favorite prize is the Amazon e-Gift Card. I save these up and use them for gift buying for the holidays. I can find gifts for most people on my list there at Amazon and when I use my e-Gift Cards, the gifts did not cost my any money.

Some other ways to earn Swag Bucks are shopping from one of the stores in their database, by trading in video games, old cell phones, submitting an idea for a poll, and inviting your friends to join using your referral id. Swag Codes, which are like a promo code to get a free Swagbuck, can be found periodically in the Swagbucks blog and on the Swagbucks Twitter page.

Every Friday they have "Mega Swag Bucks Day". That means that if you are not a member of Swagbucks, today is the day to join. MEGA Swagbucks happens every Friday. You will have a chance to get 5, 10, 20, 50, or 100 Swagbucks on random searches.

Check it out at Swag Bucks today and start earning toward your Christmas 2010. To check it out, Click here or click the banner above.

(Disclosure: I am a member of Swag Bucks and will earn Swag Bucks from my referrals that I have. For more info on my disclosure statement, click the link in my left sidebar.)

Get Paid To Site of The Week: Opinion Outpost

Opinion Outpost is a site that pays you to give your genuine opinions to companies by taking surveys. Your opinions have a chance to influence the way a company makes a product or may change the way a company advertises.

At Opinion Outpost you will receive invitations in your email that will take you to an available survey. You can access each survey just by clicking on the link in your email or you can go to Opinion Outpost and find them under “Available Surveys”.

When you join Opinion Outpost you will be asked to complete a few profile surveys. This helps them know what surveys will be in your interest area. This ensures them that you will have quality feedback for them on the selected surveys. Make sure that you answer all of the profile surveys so that you won’t be cheating yourself out of surveys that may come available in the future.

When you receive an invite or go to the “Available Surveys” tab you will see how many Opinion Points each survey is worth. You can keep up with your Opinion Points by clicking on the “Rewards” tab. For every 10 Opinion Points you earn it converts to $1 in cash. Your points can be cashed in once you reach 50 Opinion Points ($5) in your account. Once that is reached you will see an option to request a check. The checks usually take 4-8 weeks for delivery.

Lately I have been receiving a few surveys a week. I have been paid by them and know they are reliable. This is definitely one that is worth the time to join and answer surveys. In my opinion they pay great incentive for your time that you are giving them to answer the surveys. Just remember when answering surveys that you need to take the time to give honest and well thought out answers. Join by clicking the banner above.

Online Selling Tips: Newsletters are an Important Selling Tool

Newsletters are a great tool for you to get the word out to your store viewers. This is a way that you can broadcast any new items or discounts that you have available.

When making a newsletter make sure that it is not too lengthy (viewers want something easy to scan through) and the main point is at the top of the newsletter.

If you have an eBay store, you have an option to create newsletters and track them. If you don’t have a store, make yourself a blog and talk about your items that you have available with links to their eBay pages. Your followers can simply follow your blog or subscribe to it and they will get an email of all of your new post. Although, this is not a newsletter, it will act as one to your viewers.

How do you get people to subscribe to your newsletter? You have to get out and promote your stores link. Go to forums, yahoo groups, blogs, and anywhere else you can think of that will allow you to talk briefly about your store and post a link. DO NOT spam anywhere or anyone about your store, this is a way to drive interest away from your store and not to your store. Also, get involved in eBay message boards and people may check out your store if they like a comment that you make and subscribe to your newsletter.

Think of your newsletter as your ad in a newspaper. Now, go out and start sending newsletters to drive attention to your store or items that you have for sale.

Good Luck!

Get Paid To Site Of the Week: Sparkle Dollars

Sparkle Dollars has been around since 2007. Since I have been a member I have been impressed with their dependability of service. I have always been paid on time and they approve offers frequently through the day. Sparkle Dollars is what is known as a “Get Paid To” site. They pay you to complete surveys, register for sites, click on websites, or sometimes just simply input your email address. It is free to join and use. Sparkle Dollars is easy to navigate since it has the offers broke down in the drop down menu in categories for you to find the offer that fits your needs. As well as having a cash incentive to complete offers you will notice that some offers have “Sparkles”, these can be cashed in for rewards and upgrades. These rewards can be found under the tab labeled “Sparkle Rewards” in the upper menu.

Once you join Sparkle Dollars, you will be able to refer others to join Sparkle Dollars and earn a bonus when they do. If your referrals’ complete an offer that is approved, you will get 50 cents added to your account. Another benefit of having referrals comes in when they complete offers you will earn a bonus. Sparkle Dollars will give you a bonus up to three levels of referrals. See below to see the break down of bonus:

Your direct referrals- 14%
Second level- 4%
Third level- 2%

To help you get referrals you can pay for an upgrade, they start at $4.95, and as each level increases you are promised more of a chance that when a person joins unreferred that person will go to an upgraded members referral lineup. There are 5 levels of upgrades available. This is optional but available for the serious referrer.

If you shop online you can also use Sparkle Dollars to get cash back on your purchases for some retailers. Just go to the drop down menu and look for the cash back section to check out which retailers are included. Currently as of writing there are cash back offers for Kmart, WalMart, Macy’s, and Overstock.com.

Now, let me tell you have to get paid by Sparkle Dollars. On the last day of every month you can cash out your earnings if it reaches your minimum cash out amount. For a PayPal cash out, you will need to reach $5 and for a check cash out you will need to reach a $10 cash out. Once you have cashed out, you can expect payment around the 25th of the next month. Example: If you cash out on April 30th you should receive your payment around May 25th. In addition to cashing out with Paypal or Check, there is also an option for a Amazon Virtual Gift Card, the minimum for that is $5.

Because it is free to join, come see what I am talking about for yourself. Join by clicking on the banner above.

Online Selling Tip: Do You Use Twitter to Promote Your Site or Product?

Twitter is becoming more of a promotional tool everyday. You can attract a large audience in a matter of seconds. The key to doing so is to have the proper following (audience). The first step to getting the right following is to create a profile on Twitter that will attract people that would be interested in your tweets (updates) by going under “settings“. Start by giving yourself a profile picture. You can either use a personal picture or a graphic that goes with your theme. Once you complete this, choose your profile background by clicking on the “design” tab in your profile.

On the “account” tab you can enter your homepage address, place your website, blog, or eBay store address here. Next you will see a space to give yourself a “one line bio”, Doing this you need to give a brief summary of what you are promoting. This will act as key words in the search function when people are searching for people to follow. After you have completed this step go to find people and search for people that would be interested in what you will be tweeting by choosing the “Find People” tab at the top of the page and then choosing “Search on Twitter” tab. There you will want to enter keywords to find people that match your search. For instance, If you are going to be promoting your blog that you are writing about parenting, you will want to search for words like mom, parenting, children, or kids. If you are selling collectables like beanie babies you will want to use the keyword beanie babies to find people who like them.

Ok now that you have set up your profile and started following others, start tweeting your updates on your sites and tweeting with others on their updates. On top of having a great profile and following others you will need to create a relationship with others on Twitter so that they will follow your updates that you post. No one will follow a one sided tweeter. One way to boost your following is to post a Twitter badge on your blog or personal website (eBay won’t allow this badge on about me page or store page). Your site followers will most likely choose to follow you for updates. You can also put a widget on your site that shows your tweet updates. You can find these badges and widgets by checking out the “Apps” option at the bottom of the page on Twitter or you can create a custom badge on one of the sites below.

http://www.twittown.com/twitter-badges

http://mashable.com/2009/03/30/twitter-badges

http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/twitter

Remember, with anything on the internet, it takes time to establish yourself on Twitter, so don’t get discouraged and walk away, continue tweeting and one day you will start getting traffic and sales because of the relationships that you build with others on Twitter.

My Story Of How I Started to Work-At-Home

Before my daughter was born, I worked as a retail manager for 10 years and worked wild and crazy hours that usually ended up adding up to 50-80 hours a week. My husband worked two jobs and was only home for a few hours a day with one day off a week from both. We had set ourselves goals to be financially sound in 3 years (had student loans and vehicles to pay off). I was told at 16 that I wouldn’t be able to have children and the doctor’s reconfirmed it at age 21. When we first got married we set a goal of starting the adoption process after 5 years of marriage. Well, 2 years into our marriage we found out that I was expecting our first child. I remember feeling so many emotions at once like being scared, excited, and confused. As my pregnancy went along I developed toxemia. Because of my toxemia I ended up having to deliver her 1 month early. She was in the hospital for 1 month after she was born and it tore me into as a mom to have to leave the hospital to go home while she was still in the NICU. I had plans to be a stay at home mom for the first 6 to 8 months of her life so that I could bond with her before I started back to work. Well, life happened and we ended up splitting up when she was 2 months old. I think he realized being a father was not something that he was ready for, especially a child that was going to require constant attention. I then realized that for me and her to survive that I would have to start to work again to bring in a paycheck. I was so emotional when I went back to work, it seemed like everything would make me miss my daughter. I was lucky enough that my grandmother (who raised me) wanted to take care of her while I was at work, at least then I knew she was well taken care of. I soon had the single working parent life down to a robotic flow. At first when my marriage went south I was so scared that I couldn’t pull it off but I seemed to have done it after all. I still wasn’t happy that I was working as much as I was and was always looking for ways to improve my chance at working less and making the money that we needed to live on. Before she was born my work ruled a large part of my life but after she was born work lost it’s luster for me. All of my friends knew that I was on the edge of a major life change when my daughter was 4. I changed companies that I worked for because they promised that I would only be working 40-45 hours weekly and that would mean that I could be home more. Within 4 months of taking the job I realized that 40-45 hours a week was just a fantasy that I fell for. I went to a “Bunko Party” one night with a friend as an extra and at my table realized that two women that sat across from me were work-at-home moms and one of them was even a single work-at-home mom. I immediately started to ask questions and got an immediate fever in me to find a work-at-home job. Fast forward to 6 months after that party, I was still looking for a legit work-at-home job. I went to a BBQ at a friends and was talking to his wife and told her about my journey to find a work-at-home job and she said “Can you do clerical work?”, I immediately told her yes and she said, “Great your hired.” I didn’t know that they were looking for a replacement clerical worker for their company and when she heard me talk about my need she saw that it would be a perfect fit for them. I have now been working for them as a work-at-home clerical assistant for awhile now and can’t ever imagine going back to an outside of the house job. Even though I took a significant pay cut from what I was used to, it is still the best job I have ever had. It has definitely changed me as a person and mom, ways that would have probably never happened if I had stayed on the path I was on.

Now, why did I tell you this story? I hope that it is inspiration to never give up your search for a work-at-home job. There are plenty of legit opportunities out there. Send out a resume to companies that you would like to work for and explain why a work-at-home employee would be beneficial to them and sell your skills to do so. You might be lucky and get a good response that leads to your work-at-home success. Remember that telecommuting is becoming more and more popular with companies now and some are actually creating positions specifically for us work-at-home moms. Good luck to all of you on your quest.

Online Selling Tip: Writing Your Item Listing on eBay

Let me first say that I am not an expert at online selling but have learned a few tricks along the way. This post is inspired to a conversation with a friend this morning about listing an item on eBay. She is posting her first listing today and asked me what she should say in her description for her item. She said that she had looked around at listings on eBay and saw that there were some good descriptive listings and some listings that had little to no info on the item. So that got me to thinking...what makes a great listing description?

Make use of all of the preset listing descriptions provided by eBay. What I mean by this is, depending on the product you are listing, when you list an item you will see boxes in your item listing screen that has options for you to choose size of product, style of product, condition of product, and more. The options that you choose in these presets will appear at the top of your listing description in a box and it will also help get you listed in a search that a potential customer will do for an item. Here is an example of what I am talking about. I used a book listing since it has a lot of details listed about the item.

A note about listing books is that when you first go under selling and choose books as the catagory it will ask for the ISBN # on the book and that will automatically list the details.

Start your listing description with the name of the product and quanity if you are selling a "LOT" of a specific item. This will make your listing start off clear on what you are offering and there won't be room for confusion from the buyer. In this description you will want to include quanity, accurate name of product, and size. If it is too long of a description, you can use the subtitle area to lost the size of the product.

When entering info in the description box be clear and well understood. Like I said before I am not an expert by no means but I have learned that an unclear listing will get you no buyers. You should start off by listing the same thing that you listed in the one liner description and then give details about the product, tell what the product does and how it will benefit the buyer will have if they bought the item. Don't overdue the description by making unclear statements. If it is a used item be sure to talk about any scratches or damages that the product has. If you don't do this you will be misrepresenting the product and you will most likely will get a return.

Give a clear Shipping Policy. Don't forget to let the buyer know how you will ship the item, what your ETA of shipping the item will be, let them know if insurance is available, and if combined shipping is an option. Again, remember to be very clear about what details you are trying to convey.

Give a clear Return Policy. Let your buyers know what your return terms will be for damaged items, shipping problems, who will pay for shipping a return, and let them know that shipping insurance is nonrefundable.

Get-Paid-To Site of the Week: Disco Dollars

I joined Disco Dollars around 2 years ago and wanted to share why I like Disco Dollars with you. First thing to notice about the site is it is easy to navigate. The site is broken down by categories that are listed in the sidebar on the left. The top category listings are for your administrative needs such as your account info, place to click to contact the owner, place to check your inbox, and a link to the Disco Daily, link to the forum. The bottom category listings are the offers broken down in categories for easy viewing.

There are four types of offers available on the site. The first type of offer is the freebie offer, otherwise known as the PTS offer. These are offers that want you to either register, complete a survey, or simply enter your email address. The next type of offer is cash back shopping. To get cash back on Disco Dollars you will need to choose a store, that is listed in offer form, and make a purchase. You will then receive a percentage, that is listed in the offer, back. This percentage is based on your subtotal of the order. The next type of offer is the Paid-To-Click offer. The link for this is located in the main menu. Paid-To-Click pays you to click on banners that will take you to a website to view for a certain time period. Disco Dollars also offers an incentive match for any offers that you find on other get-paid-to site for more incentive. The owner will verify this and if possible she will match it or beat it.

On Disco Dollars you will see little disco balls that are an extra incentive on some offers. After you collect enough, you can go to the Disco Ball Prizes page and cash them in for things like a promo code (loaded with a cash amount to be added to your account), advertising, Redbook magazine subscription, mood ring, a specified amount of cash to be added to your account, and more prizes.

If you don’t mind completing surveys you can complete one of the daily survey’s and earn. If you complete 10 surveys all the way to the end in the month, you will be entered in a drawing for a $10 bonus to be added to the winner’s account. These surveys are located in the main menu section.

You can refer your friends and earn from them completing offers. How this works is when a referral (your friend) completes an offer you will receive an 18% bonus of the offer’s incentive amount. Now if your friend refers someone that completes an offer you will receive 2% bonus of the offer’s incentive amount. An easy way to get referrals is to upgrade your account and get a better chance of having a member that joined without being referred by anyone added to your referrals list. There are 3 levels of upgrades that each offer a better chance of this happening.
Disco Dollars offers cash out to members once they reach a $10 Minimum each month. Once you reach this you can go to the cash out page on the last day of the month and choose from a variety of payout options. You can choose to get it transferred to your PayPal or to receive a check in the mail. You will also notice that there are several gift card options that you can choose, some are virtual gift cards and some are ones that she mails out to you. You will be paid out once monthly and it usually takes about a month to receive your payout.

A tip of selling on Ebay

Ebay has a really neat area, "Want It Now", where people can list items that they are looking to buy. This is a great way to get a built in buyer for your listing. Once you find an item that is listed, go ahead and post the item to sell and then return to "Want It Now" and list the item number for the listing under the post that the interested buyer posted.

Prize Live: WHy Should I Join?

Why do I like Prize Live? First reason would be the setup of the site is easy to navigate. A lot of Get-Paid-To sites are cluttered and not very well organized. Next, would be that even though it is a point site, your points can be cashed out for a PayPal deposit instantly. The only requirement they have for you to qualify for instant payout is that you post your proof of payment each time you get paid in their forum. The other rewards are not that shabby either, they include an Amazon Certificate, Ipod Shuffle, Gift Card, Check, or your choice of gaming system. There are plenty of offers to choose from to get to your favorite rewards minimum and they tend to approve quickly. Prize Live also offers a downloadable toolbar that offers easy access to your account to find out things like your point balance, newest offers that are added, a random list of offers that you have not completed, quick links to areas on the site, and more. The best part of the toolbar is that you will get a daily bonus for using their toolbar. Now you will notice that when you complete an offer you will also get something called a "Game Credit" (GC), these can be used to enter contest or games that will help you win more points ot cash in. Prize Live also has a great forum that stays active where you can learn tips from others or talk about the weather. The forum is kind of open topic. Sometimes they offer forum contest that you can participate in. When you first log in you will see that they have a jackpot going. You are automatically entered into the jackpot drawing every time you complete an offer. Administration is also on top of things and will answer your questions quickly. They seem to be online frequently to check on their site. As you can see there are many reasons to become a member of Prize Live. To Join or check it out Click Here.

Some Work-At-Home Ideas

Awhile back Good Morning America started a feature on Work-At-Home Jobs. Tory Johnson, founder and CEO of Women for Hire, is the Workplace Contributor for GMA and has offered some great pieces on the work-at-home life. She talks about different legit jobs that a work-at-home pursuitant could do to earn a living from home. In the feature she talks about Virtual Customer-Service Agents, Driving for Dollars, Transcription jobs, Concierge Services, Being a Culinary Consultant, and more.

Tory list things here that I would have never thought of, like the Driving for Dollars. This is where you can rent out a space on your car for advertisment or you can have your full car wrapped in the advertisment. I have seen cars like this driving around town but never thought of it as a money maker. According to her article you can find these positions by Googling "car wrap advertising". This seems to be a no effort job as long as you drive it around town while doing your errands.

There are sites like ChaCha and Just Answer that allows you to be a guide on subjects that you specialize in to help others. I have heard of these before but did not have any info about them. Apparently ChaCha is a search engine that offers live help from a guide that assist them in their searches. Just Answers is a site where experts answer questions that paying customers have. If you have a specialty or an expert on a subject this looks like it would be a great way to pick up some extra cash.

Are you fluent in a foreign language? If so, you can be a translator. This is a business that you can freelance your services too and set your own client base up with. If you are not wanting to work for yourself you can also become employed with companies that need translators frequently.

Tory also touched on the need for tutors. If you have a college degree or an expert in a subject in school you can start advertising locally and get hired per hour to help others in their studies. This could also be a rewarding job knowing that not only you are earning money but you are helping others while doing it.

Did you know there was a such thing as a Virtual Assistant? That's right, you can be a personal assistant online. Virtual Assistants can do bookeeping, travel arrangements, transcription, and any other administrative office need. There are sites online that you can apply to or you can promote your services yourself and be your own boss.

There are so many good work-at-home ideas that can help us work-at-home. Check out Tory's article at Good Morning America for all of her ideas and check her out at Women For Hire.

Some Tips On Being An Ebay Seller

Ebay is a great resource to bring extra cash into your life. With the economy in the shape it is in, having a side income is becoming more and more important. I personally have dabbled in Ebay and now I have decided to amp up my Ebay efforts. I have learned a few tips in my efforts and thought I would share them with you so that you can use them to better your Ebay efforts.

Tip #1: Have a PayPal account. It is the easiest no hassle way to get paid for all of your items you are selling.

Tip #2: Have a camera that will give you decent pictures that you post in your description of the items. Bad pictures or no pictures will hinder you from getting interested buyers. I just received my new digital camera in the mail the other day and I immediately listed a few items and see that I have been getting some hits on my items. The camera that I had before never could get clear pictures and I know my listings suffered because of it. You don't have to spend a lot of money for a camera, just get one that has a good rating and feedback from customers. I got mine off of a store on Ebay and even got free accessories with it for around $60.

Tip #3: Start to look for items that you can sell from inside your own home. If you are like most, you have a storage area full of things that you put away and have forgotten you had and unless they are sentimental, these items can attract buyers on Ebay. These things may have value on Ebay and can help start your selling.

Tip #4: Take advantage of the 10 day free trial at Hammertap. I just recently found this site from reading about it on Ebay Selling Coach. It is a market research tool for sellers on Ebay. What this means is it helps a seller by using their search tools to find specific information about how an item is performing currently on Ebay. What info will you receive when you join? It gives you the average selling price of the item currently, best day to start the auction, best day to end the auction, and links to all of the listings for the item.

Tip #5: Use a site like Auctiva to dress up your listings. It is a free to use site that offers Ebay listing templates to showcase your item that you are selling so that it is appealing to the buyers. It makes each listing look like it's own website. Check out one of my listings to see one of the templates that is available. I also like Auctiva because when you click on active listings under your dashboard it will give you a hit count on your listings so that you know which listings are drawing the most traffic.

Tip #6: Make sure you fill out your "About Me" page. If you don't this may turn buyers away from your items. You don't have to give out personal info just make sure you talk about what to expect from you service wise and product wise. Make sure you make it sound friendly and you can also add your blog or website address. There are some affiliates that you can list on your "About Me" Page such as Big Crumbs, Auction Add Ons, and Seller Sourcebook. These affilliates will be another way to earn.

Tip #7: Check stores like Dollar Tree or Big Lots for items to sell on Ebay. These stores get new stock several times a week. They are stores that have closeouts of merchandise at great prices.
When a popular item closes out it creates a big demand for the product on Ebay. It is important to visit these stores a few times a week to see what new stock they get in that might sell for profit on Ebay. Major name brands are usually the big sellers. I personally have my notepad open on my cell phone and make notes of new stock so that I can check Hammertap to see if it sells or not when I get home. Then if the products are bringing profit from sells then you can go make a purchase and immediately list the item so you can hit the sells of the product while it is hot.

Tip #8: Visit thrift stores and yard sales in your area and see what brand name items you can find. I have heard of sellers getting great deals from their local Goodwill store and making a nice profit from the sell of the item on Ebay. Look for antiques, Remington Blue Hot Rollers, designer clothes, and popular children's books. Nonfiction Authors sell great in lots if you can get a series together.

Tip #9: Make your listing description as thorough as posssible without sounding repetitve. Make sure you tell of any wear or tear of the item. List everything that comes with the item. Make sure that you list your policies for returns, shipping, and payment. That way there is no confusion if problems occur. make sure that everything is clearly stated.

Tip #10: Promote your listings in forums, stumble it, clixsense, or any other advertising method you can think of.

I am in no way an expert on Ebay but wanted to share these tips that I have learned along my way. Ebay can be a good source of extra income if you make an effort to maximize sales. If you have any other tips share them by commenting.
